Silver Star Scholarship Inc. is a non-profit organization, founded by SGT Joseph E. “Joey” Proctor's Whiteland Community High School classmates, that seeks to promote both higher education and service to our country. SGT Proctor was posthumously awarded the Silver Star in recognition of his bravery under fire and the disregard for his own personal safety in stopping a suicide bomber during an attack on the compound where SGT Proctor was housed.

Silver Star Scholarship Inc. seeks to support those families who are serving our country and to promote the selflessness demonstrated by SGT Proctor. Support of families shall be accomplished by providing scholarships to those students who are seeking higher education while also serving their country as a member of the US military. Additional consideration will be given to those students whose parents are currently serving in the US military or are veterans.
